Big Stock Photo * (Photo stock site)

Terms: This site does a good job in the presentation of the terms and explaining the terms clearly. They use a Navy Blue text on a white background which makes it easy to read and the terms are numbered and typed in a font size that is easy to read. I did however find the terms to be a little more strict than some of the other photo stock sites. And there was an term that states the picture must be re-purchased every time it is used for a different product. In other words I couldn't use the same picture for making a graphics site and a clothing store. I would have to purchase the same picture all over again. I don't know what that is all about but hopefully they will change it in the future. They also have an arbitration option which is good because who wants to go to court if things can be settled out of court. other than that the terms were agreeable. A little too limited for me.

Graphics: The graphic on this site is good as far as organizations but they are very limited. They only stock photos. This site would be good if you only needed 1 photo. If you need a wide variety different types of images then it would be better to go to a subscription site that offers clip art, photos, and the sort. I would recommend this site for someone that was creating a brochure and only need pictures for that one brochure. Don't expect too much from this site.

Freeimages.co.uk (Photo Stock)

Terms: The terms were written clearly and with black text and white background. Always a plus for easy reading. The down side to the terms is that I they required a link back to their site. The plus side of this is that they allow the user to put it in the form of a text link which can allow the user to just add it in the form of a reference such as when someone uses a photo they put who provided the photo. This keeps the site from being overwhelmed by banners from other sites. The only thing that worries me about the terms is that the site is from the U.K. and because of the copyright laws, it may be free to use in the U.K. but may be a different story in the U.S. The other things that make me uneasy about the site is that they state the terms may be changed without noticed. This is one of my warning signs for paid membership sites. Because this site is a free site I can't grade it too hard on that. They do not collect money from their members so it balances out for me.

Graphics: The photos on this site are a little dull in color. You may have to use a graphic editor in order to enhance the colors. The good thing about the site is that it's free and if someone complains that you are using a copyrighted graphics then you can always fall back on the link to their site. That way the site will take the full responsibility and not you. This site also only offers stock photos. You won't find clip arts or vectors here. But once again it's free. So it's there's really no loss. But I would be more than willing to provide a link back to their site that way if there was a copyright dispute people will know where the photo originally came from. This site realizes the medium quality of their photos and offers tips for enhancing them.

Not all low ratings are bad. It could be that one site has more resources available than another. There are some really nice graphic sites out there so many times it's like comparing a small business to a giant corporation. The size of the business will not affect the terms. Terms are terms no matter how big or small the business is.
